Brandice Taylor-Davis: The Life Coach Whose Got Body Posted on March 29, 2018July 5, 2018 By Dangerous Lee Name and occupation: Brandice Taylor-Davis; Entrepreneur and Certified Life Coach. Describe the work you’re doing to fight discrimination against women: I can remember fighting for women’s equality since elementary school. Most recently I launched the Got Body Project in 2017. It was born from my line of luxury leisurewear, B is for Body. The Got Body project features women of all body types, shapes, and sizes and recognizes them for their “body.” A woman who has body knows it’s more than just fitting into cookie cutter standards. She is comfortable in her own skin, she lives a life of substance, and most importantly she follows her dreams. We use the hashtag #shesgotbody. Each year when we reveal our spring and summer line we recognize a class of women; this year they are all single mothers. I’ve also been using #iamwomenshistory to remind women to recognize themselves and their accomplishments. What do you love most about being a woman? What I love the most about being a woman is that I possess the power to create. Women are superheroes. They are warriors. Why would anyone want to be a man? I can do most of what he can but smarter, faster and better. Have you had to deal with much sexism in your industry? I have faced sexism all of my life; but my mother prepared me at a young age. She told me that people would tell me I couldn’t do things because I am a Black Woman and she drilled it into me never to believe them. She truly set me up for success with that. Do you belong to any organizations catered to women business owners? Not officially. I do have a strong network of women business owner friends and we often collaborate and refer to each other. Who or what inspires you most? Different things inspire me at different times but overall I am inspired by nature. I get my best ideas when I can sit in the stillness of the earth and reflect, meditate, read or write. It can be the ocean, the lake, a forest or the desert. Just outside in the peace and quiet and the wonders of nature. Something about you that would surprise us: I’m really into extreme sports. I love watching them. I’m excited to try a few; earlier this year I went to trapeze school. Advice for women entrepreneurs: In life ALWAYS use the airline emergency approach – “put on your oxygen mask first.” Follow Brandice Taylor-Davis on social media: Facebook Twitter About Author Dangerous Lee administrator Content Creator and Everythang in Chief of Dangerous Lee Publishing.
