Tynee Sims: Making Black History with a “Black-ass spirit” as host of Tynee Talks Podcast Posted on February 8, 2018July 28, 2023 By Dangerous Lee Hey Ya’ll! I’m Tynee from TyneeTalks Blog and Podcast Photography by Rynelle Walker Exactly How Does One Make Black History? When I was approached to write how I am making Black History in 2018, initially, I was extremely excited, and then fear creeped in. I questioned myself. Was I really worthy of such a task? I had to sit back and think about what contributions am I giving to push the culture forward. How am I making Black History? After much pondering, I came to the conclusion that I am making Black History by stepping out and believing in myself. I dedicated my 20s to pouring into someone elses dream, while neglecting my own. I was so vested in other people’s success, that I couldn’t even pinpoint the gift I wanted to share with the world. I finally figured out that I wanted to share my voice. I’ve got the gift of gab and some sweet melodic vocals too! #BlackGirlsRock? Everything around us is telling us that Black girls aren’t enough. Black girls are too much. Black girls ain’t really got the magic, but we do and it’s steeped in our melanin. My magic is steeped in my own magical and original DNA. I’m making history by investing in my vision of bringing education and entertainment to the forefront through various social media platforms. I am bringing awareness to social issues such as the school to prison pipeline, healthcare disparities, mental health among African-Americans, as well as informing people what they should be watching, listening to, and reading. I am making Black History by defying the odds every day, just by waking up. I am making Black History because every day they try and kill my Black-ass spirit, but I resurrect and reform by the renewing of my mind on a daily. Click words to tweet! I am making Black History by letting little Black girls from the hoods across the world know that they can do anything they want to as long as they have a vision and they work hard daily to make sure that vision comes to fruition. I am making Black History by reassuring little dark-skinned girls with full lips, big butts, big boobs, wide hips, and big teeth, that they are beautiful, and what they were born with, people pay for every day, B!
