The most effective way to combat germs is frequently cleaning workstations. There’s a difference between cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing, but even a basic cleaning will keep employees safe as well as create a clean work environment for others. Find out the best way to clean your desk workstation here. Use Disinfectant Wipes on Surfaces Once a week, clear off your desk to clean the surface area with a dry cloth. Then, use disinfectant wipes get rid of germs, dust, and grime. Make sure to disinfect the parts of the desk you touch the most, such as the edges or the area around the keyboard. After disinfecting, let the surface dry for at least 10 minutes before placing items back on the desk. Apply Microfiber Cloth on Electronics Unlike with some flat surfaces and items, you can’t approach electronics with a liquid cleaning solution. These can seep into the device’s hardware and cause a malfunction. Instead, clean your desk electronics by dampening a microfiber cloth with cold water and carefully wiping the devices. You can also use a light disinfectant spray after wiping. Spray the disinfectant five inches away from the device for a clean mist. Use a Mild Soap To Scrub Sticky Spots Clean desk chairs and other fabric-based items with mild soap and water. If you notice a sticky spot, create a mixture of three parts water and one part soap in a bowl. Then, soak a towel in the mixture for a few seconds and rub the towel on the sticky area until the stain is gone. You can go in with a cloth to pat the surface dry, but we recommend air0drying. Use Cleaning Spray in Overall Area Once you’re done cleaning the various areas of your workstation, go in with a cleaning spray to clear the overall area. This kills any germs around your workstation and finishes the cleaning process. As the world makes new strides, people are slowly coming back to the office. Tons of safety precautions are in place for the protection of all employees. However, there are ways to go beyond these initial precautions by keeping your immediate work area clean.
