Meet Renee Rivon: The Woman Behind The Hilarious Stage Play – The Origin of A Jealous Woman Posted on May 17, 2018January 2, 2021 By Dangerous Lee The Origin of A Jealous Woman Renee Rivon and SiLLy Charm Productions bring the hilarious stage play, The Origin of A Jealous Woman, live at the Midtown Arts & Theater Center in Houston, June 24, 2018. What happens when you break it off with your man to teach him a lesson and he falls in love with another woman? Would you go through any means necessary to get him back or would jealousy get the best of you? Come out and see The Origin of A Jealous Woman written by Houston’s own writer, director and producer Renee Rivon. The Story: Camille and Jackson were the childhood sweethearts that would always be…until Jackson dumps an ultimatum on Camille… Him or Her Career! Putting love on hold, Camille chooses her career and gains her success, only to return home 1 year later to Jackson… with another Woman. The Origin of A Jealous Woman explores the journey of two women in love with the same man, but whom does he love? How far would you go to get the love of your life back? The show will be held at the Midtown Arts & Theater Center, 3400 Main ST. Houston, TX 77002. Tickets will be sold on Eventbrite.com. Tickets are $25. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Youth Outdoor Unity. Renee Rivon with leading actors; Courtney Tomaz and Dez Abrams. Is “The Origin of Jealous Woman” based on personal experience? The show is loosely based on past experiences of mine and my girlfriends. Girlfriends get in the groove of searching for other people on social media to find any reason to talk about them. The act of doing this is useless and ugly. I felt that if I displayed those silly actions on stage it would show how trivial jealousy is, in the funniest way possible. Are there plans to take the show on the road? I’m working on taking my last play, “Games Women Play” on tour now, and hopefully “The Origin of A Jealous Woman” next year. How can Black women invest in SiLLy Charm Productions? While Black women have the opportunity to invest financially, SiLLy Charm Productions encourages that you invest with your talents as well. We are seeking out Black women who are actors, stylists, make-up artists, set designers, and stage managers! So, please Black woman, if that is you, you can contact us at sillycharmproductions@gmail.com. Why are the two L’s in SiLLy Charm Productions capitalized? When something is really funny and silly, being that I’m extremely southern, I will pronounce silly with the emphasis on the two L’s. My goal is to have the audience leaving the theater saying the same thing! What’s your take on Hollywood in regard to work for Black women in front of the camera and behind the scenes? I feel 2018 and going forward is on fire for Black women. Having women like Viola Davis and Issa Rae in front of the camera, and sistahs like Lena Waithe and Ava DuVernay behind the camera, is pushing us toward an even bigger goal, and carving out a new look for the word successful. Black women are able to create and produce shows and hire more Black women to lead the cast. We are doing it! We are in demand and doing it on our own now.
