Can you say frustrating! Are you ready to finally get fit, tight and toned curves? Has This Ever Happened To You? If this has ever happened to you, what you have experienced is known as adaptation. Yes, your body is an amazing machine that adapts to any external stress placed upon it. Therefore, regardless of how much cardio or exercise you do, once your body has adapted to what you’re doing, you must step it up a notch or two to get new results! Argghhhh… I see your frustrated face! Stick with me. What Do I Mean? Allow me to paint a clearer image of adaptation. When you first begin exercising, your body wasn’t used to the activity you were performing. At this point, your body required more effort or energy required to perform your activity of choice. As a result, you experienced increased heart rate, unstable movement patterns, and greater calorie burn! However, after a certain period (adaptation period) the body requires less effort to perform the same task and you expend or exert less energy doing the same exercise as before. After a while, you know what happens don’t you? You guessed it, you hit a wall! I don’t want to you to continue to feel frustrated, therefore, allow me to provide you with 5 ways to kick your metabolism up to burn that stubborn unwanted body fat and tone your entire body! Tip 1: Choose a new weapon of choice: If you find yourself doing the same exercises on the same equipment it is time to change this up. By utilizing new cardio or exercise equipment, your challenging your body from different angles. This will cause you to use different muscle groups that can lead to greater strength and stamina. Tip 2: Use time instead of counting repetitions: Instead of using repetitions, try using time. Using time can assist you in getting in more repetitions! Tip 3: Add more sets: Doing the same amount of sets will not challenge your body. Therefore add at least 2 additional sets of exercises to your fitness regimen. Tips 4: Add more weight: At the beginning of your fitness journey 25 pounds may have seemed heavy, once your body adapts to this amount of resistance you will need to add additional weight. It is called progressive resistance. Tip 5: HITT it Baby: If you find yourself doing steady state cardio, try adding intervals. Performing intervals require high bursts of an exercise for an allotted amount of time followed by a short break! This will help burn additional calories and save you time in the gym! Getting in shape and feeling great is a journey of many destinations. Therefore, on your journey, if you happen to find yourself stuck, try these five tips to move you forward!
