Growing Your Team: How To Set Your New Hires up for Success Posted on September 28, 2021September 28, 2021 By Leigh Langston A crucial part of growing your business is to bring in fresh talent and expand your team. No company can survive without bringing in at least some new hires, and your future accomplishments will rely on how effectively you get them up to speed. After all, even the most experienced professionals will still require time to learn how you run things and where they fit into the workplace infrastructure. Read on to learn how to set your new hires up for success and make them an asset to your team. Clearly Outline Responsibilities Upon hiring a new employee, one of the first things you should do is familiarize them with their role and general responsibilities. Even if they’re taking on the same position they’ve had in the past, standards can vary depending on the business. So they must understand what you expect of them from the beginning. In addition to preparing them for the role, this step will also ensure that you answer any questions they have and keep them comfortable moving forward. Training, Training, Training Next, you’ll want to jump into training. Education is essential to providing an individual with a strong foundational knowledge of your company’s practices. It’s through these courses that your new hire will learn how to work with your systems, decipher business terminology, and adhere to expectations. Because of this, you should devote most of your onboarding process to training and assessing a person’s skills. Provide an Accommodating Workspace Once you feel like you’ve trained them sufficiently, another thing you can do to set your new hires up for success is to provide them with a proper workspace. This is especially important if you plan on having your team return to the office soon. There are several things every new employee should have at their workstation, including the necessary tools and equipment, supplies, and standard company resources. But make sure that you’re also providing a company gift to make them feel welcome and establish a positive rapport. Introduce Them to the Team You’ll want to officially introduce them to the rest of your team as well to help them settle into their role. As the people they’ll work closely with, it’s important that your new hire feels welcomed by them. This way, they’re more likely to feel comfortable asking them for advice. The smoother you can make this transition, the easier it’ll be for your new hire to start their work. Like this:Like Loading...
