Breaking The Narrative Series: Hoe – Not Just An Offensive Term For Women Posted on April 4, 2019February 24, 2021 By Ebony Selise Breaking The Narrative Series: A Ho Lot To Talk About Before I address the regressive narratives that plague society, let’s emphasize the urgency in eradicating the use of the word “ho”. Furthermore, let’s stop calling women who do not succumb to the false sense of entitlement that comes with misogyny “hoes”. Ho [/hō/] noun INFORMAL ● DEROGATORY A sexually promiscuous woman.A prostitute; whore.A woman. According to the breakdown (courtesy of dictionary.com), “ho” is not only an offensive and derogatory term used to describe someone believed to be sexually reckless with their body, but is a term that is only applicable to women. Based on the definition we see above, men are incapable of disrespecting their bodies. In contrast, the independent decisions women make about their bodies defines them as a person, but there is no male equivalent to be found on dictionary.com. We do, however, get a rather light-hearted explanation of a “man whore” thanks to urbandictionary.com. Breaking The Narrative A woman who demands respect, is sex positive, has standards, AND also believes in courting and earned trust is a “bitch”, “gold digger”, and/or “ho”. Women today are more bold, loud, open about being sex positive, and grounded into themselves as well as true femininity. We like sex, talking about sex, and being uncensored about it just like men do. Society still lives by the equations: Sex Positivity + Sexual Liberation of Women = Promiscuity Sex Positivity + Sexual Liberation of Men = Sexual Exploration or “A Phase” Every week as I scroll through my IG and FB accounts at that point in the afternoon when everyone is crashing hard from their morning coffee and struggling to make it to five o’ clock, I see relentless bashing of unconventional women. Let’s Talk About Sex, Baby! What makes women like the City Girls, Megan Thee Stallion, and Cardi B fearless, fierce, independent women of our time is their unapologetic attitude towards their sexuality and demand for respect from men who feel entitled to their vaginas. Every relationship (platonic or more than) is begun due to both parties getting something out of it. More often than not, men want sex out of the relationship and women want consistency AND respect. However, men try to make women feel bad for demanding their fair share. Due to women being used for sex while receiving absolutely nothing in return, not even respect which is not only fundamental but FREE, our criteria has become more strict and concrete. Cardi B and the City Girls are encouraging women to hold on to their power and stop settling for less than they deserve. They are saying that while you are giving yourself to someone else, make sure you’re receiving as much as you’re giving. More simply: Men want sex (majority of the time and usually with no strings attached) Women want consistency and respectEach party comes to the relationship wanting something different out of it Laying Down The Law If a man approaches you for sex make sure that you are getting something out of this exchange of your time and energy since his intention for chasing after you was solely pussy. Consistency to women like Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, and the City Girls is synonymous with stability… Stability = Money Man Seeking Sex = Money in Their Pockets from the Man Seeking Sex As a consumer you don’t get to walk into a business and define the retail price for the product you desire. You simply walk into the store, keep your mouth shut about the price, and buy what it is you walked in there for. Man Seeking Sex = Consumer Vagina = Desired Product Requirement(s) of Woman with the Vagina = Price What’s The ROI Though? As mentioned earlier, women aren’t only giving you their bodies during sex they are also giving you time (which is invaluable) and energy that could have been put to better use as many of us have our side hustles – also, can I get a round of applause for the Boss Baes real quick?! There has to be a tradeoff for the time taken away from our productivity and growth. This also relates to the analogy used above. As a consumer your responsibility is to know your brand, which includes knowing the price – you can’t have a champagne diet on a beer budget. The same logic applies to the ladies you chase after. Men often go after a woman they know is out of their caliber and/or doing big things, knowing they’ll never reach her level or even attempt to. Leave her alone or shut up and meet her demands since you have nothing to bring to the table except recycled community dick. For the simpletons: Budget = Caliber of Women No More Discounts or Handouts Men who believe they’re entitled to a woman’s vagina just because she has one will try to tell you that you are degrading yourself or lowering your self-worth by demanding money in exchange for sex. No, baby girl, your value is lowered by giving away top-shelf goods for FREE. You can’t take worth away from something that was never valued…let’s stop the handouts and give a round of applause to the Cardi Bs, City Girls, and Megan Thee Stallions of the world.
