Remote Team Wellness: The Solution for Companies to Take Care of Their Employees During the Pandemic and Beyond Posted on February 1, 2021November 29, 2021 By Dangerous Lee What is Remote Team Wellness? If your job has gone virtual since the pandemic began you may find yourself stressed, lonely, full of anxiety or a myriad of many emotions are taking a toll on your mental health. Employers are also finding it difficult to find solutions and be employee focused in this new era. Tarin Calmeyer (it’s no coincidence that “calm” is in her name) is the founder of Remote Team Wellness. A program that blends technology with some of the world’s leading teachers. They promote organizational wellness through fostering team building, reducing workplace stress and creating healthier workplace environments. Q&A with Tarin Calmeyer What inspired you to create Remote Team Wellness? I was inspired to start remote team Wellness when I saw so many of my clients and Friends struggling to find the tools to deal with the effects of the pandemic. I saw the necessity for creating a solution for companies to take better care of their employees through the pandemic and beyond. I’m on a mission to demystify and democratize wellness and bring more balance to business to create a sustainable and engaged remote working world. Is yoga and meditation something that everyone from all walks of life should and can practice well? While I definitely agree that both yoga and meditation have the ability to have a profound impact on any person who is willing to dedicate time to the practices, they are not the be-all-and-end-all tools for everyone. I try not to speak in absolutes or give clients the impression that there is only one way to attain the balance that they seek. Different methods work for different people, and while yoga and meditation are absolutely brilliant and life-changing tools, they aren’t the only ones. The thing I would recommend that everyone does is try. Try yoga, try running, try Pilates, try meditation, try forest bathing, try singing, try walking in nature, try getting up before the sun. Try healthy habits at least three times to make an informed decision if it’s for you, and if it’s not, move on to something that feels better. We are all responsible for our own well being, so it’s important to personalize our experiences. What are the biggest issues that people working from home are having in terms of mental health? Loneliness, lack of motivation, stress, anxiety, depression and many more mental health issues have been a massive challenge to people working remotely, even before the pandemic. For anyone struggling with their mental health, the important thing to remember is that you are not alone, your experience is valid and there are resources and support available to help you. What, in your opinion, are some of the best ways to stay motivated in the covid era? Stick to a routine- this is the most crucial step for working remotely consistently.Get dressed everyday- avoid working in your PJ’s all day; take a shower and put yourself into a state that has you ready to work.Get up and move your body at least once every hour (extra points for a 5 minute midday dance party).Organize your space so that you have a supportive working environment.Separate your life from your work by setting healthy boundaries and managing your time in a way that works for you.Incorporate breaks with restful downtime into your day.Set a max of an hour limit per day on all social media (and stick to it for your mental health’s sake). What type of feedback are you getting from businesses who are participating in your program? The feedback and support we’ve received from our clients has been incredible, a lot have made the comment that our service is the most timely, relevant and/or necessary service that has been allowed to flourish as a result of the pandemic. Most of the comments we receive about our services speak to the level of attention and customization that goes into making each of our events a success as well as how much companies are learning about their staff from making an effort to take care of them by expanding their wellness offerings. We also get many thank yous and suggestions for sessions from team members that are grateful that their company has invested in their well being. Dig deeper into this quote I found on your Chocolate Pretzel website: Be where you are, not where you think you should be. I think that this quote perfectly sums up how we can all take the first step toward starting the journey of truly loving ourselves. How we show up in life and the level of presence we bring to our days, relationships and interactions is the key to anything we want. In order for us to change where we would like to be, we first need to be fully present with where we are. Allowing ourselves to assess and accept exactly where and who we are can help us to make peace with our own limiting beliefs and expectations that may be keeping us there. When we accept who we are, we make room to expand and grow. Your business can be featured in an exclusive Q&A too: Elevate Your Brand today!
