Do You Think God Has An Afro? Noisy Knits Has A Tee Just For You! Posted on July 25, 2019February 9, 2023 By Dangerous Lee Meet Kendra McCartney, the owner of Noisy Knits! My name is Kendra McCartney. I am an attorney and an expression aficionado! In 2016, I wanted to start a business that allowed me to help fashion-conscious women and men authentically express themselves with simple but punchy statements. In the complicated world of “statement” tees Noisy Knits creates simple empowering tees. Not only do our tees transcend time, but they place our customers in the drivers seat by offering them a choice between fitted and unisex tees. BGA: Tell us when and how you and your business partner came together to create Noisy Knits: Kendra: My business partner and I have been friends for years. In 2016, we decided to combine our talents and create a company. We brainstormed and decided to start the Noisy Knits T-Shirt Company where the focus would be designing simple and empowering Tees. BGA: Who is your ideal customer? Kendra: Our ideal customer is a fashionable, confident, self-aware woman who wants to stand out without sacrificing style and who wants to feel empowered and proud of who they are. BGA: What is the inspiration behind the phrases and which tee is your most popular? Kendra: The inspiration behind our tees, simply put is empowerment. Empowerment regarding being a woman, empowerment regarding being Black, empowerment regarding natural hair, and empowerment in terms of self confidence. Since we started our Tees have been focused on these areas. Our most popular Tee by far is “beautifully flawed” generally and specifically our bat-wing “beautifully flawed” tee. While we no longer sell it, a close second is “kinks, hips and pretty lips”. But, we are working on another tee for curly haired girls that we think will be just as popular. Last, but not least would be our “God Has An Afro” tee, which has been tremendously popular since debuting in May. It’s the first time we’ve offered a tee online in a color other than black. BGA: What makes Noisy Knits different than other expressive t-shirt brands? Kendra: Noisy Knits is different in several ways: To appeal to a wide range of women and body types, we offer a fitted tee and a unisex tee. Our Tees are incredibly soft. Some even say the softest they’ve felt in the t-shirt market. Most tees are 100% cotton. We are preparing to release tri-blend tees in August, which are even softer than our current tees. This will provide our customers with even more flexibility in choosing how they want their tee to fit. We will continue to offer 100% cotton, but for many of our designs our customers will have a choice in fit and fabric. We offer a dolman sleeve tee, which we call our “bat-wing” tee. It’s actually one of our most popular tees and sells out quite regularly. Our “bat-wing” tee just gives more options for styling and our customers really love it. For our local Houston customers, we have tees that are available exclusively at a local boutique, which is where our “bat-wing” tee started. BGA: Besides tees, what other products can we get with witty words and simple messages on them? Kendra: Currently, we offer a tote bag and a runner bag. But, we are constantly looking for items that work with our brand. However, we want to make sure that whatever we offer is the quality our customers are accustomed to receiving from us. BGA: You are also an attorney, what kind of law do you practice? Kendra: I work for an investment company where I do financial planning. Get FREE shipping on orders over $50 at NoisyKnits.com.
