How To Make the Most Out of Your Standing Desk Posted on September 28, 2021November 22, 2021 By Leigh Langston With many companies still encouraging everyone to work from home, we’ve gotten quite used to it by now. Some of us have even started enhancing our home offices with all the best upgrades we can find. One such upgrade you might have looked into is a standing desk. Whether you’ve already bought one or are still only considering it, check out this guide on how to make the most out of your standing desk. With the right usage, it can enhance your life in ways you didn’t realize. Switch Between Sitting and Standing Regularly In the same way that sitting for too long can be bad for you, standing too long can also cause problems. If you spend the whole day on your feet, the lower half of your body and your back can get very sore, leading to decreased work output. Therefore, the best idea is to switch between both positions to better your overall health. If needed, set timers on your phone to remind you when it’s time to change. Utilize All of Its Features Once you get a handle on switching positions regularly, it’s time to make sure that you’re utilizing all the benefits of your desk. Even though we mentioned using your phone to time how long you’ve been standing or sitting, some desks come with that feature for your convenience. Also, many electronic standing desks have memory settings. While it may feel lazy to use them, they’re the ideal way to change positions since that will give you time to move your chair and do any other necessary adjusting. Plus, it’ll put you back to the exact spot you were in last time. Do Little Things To Remain Active Whether you’re currently sitting or standing, there are quite a few exercises that you can do while working or during short breaks. These will keep you from being stationary for too long and work your muscles a bit to give you a natural energy boost. Even if you don’t want to do full workouts, simply bopping along with a song you’re listening to will help keep you moving and get your blood flowing. Make Use of Its Cable Management While many desks focus on cable management these days, it’s even more important with your standing desk, so it’s a crucial point in making the most out of your standing desk. If you fail to manage your cables properly, they could get stuck or twisted together, which can spell disaster when you move your desk up the next time. Trapped cables will stretch and shift when the desk moves, which can either remove it from its socket, knock over something important, or possibly even break the desk. Fortunately, many standing desks will stop moving if they run into too much resistance, but this is still a problem that you’ll want to avoid at all costs. Like this:Like Loading...
