Don’t Over-Fruit!

If one banana is good for you, a few more won’t hurt?

Not exactly!! One medium banana has 27 carbs. If you are trying to cut down on your carbs during the day, make sure you count the carbs in “fruit” because they do add up!

Fruits with lower carbs are a great choice. Try to stick to berries, apples, melons and grapefruits.

Fruit is healthy so enjoy, but don’t forget to include them in your carb count for the day!

Tuna Fish Salad Does Not Have to Be Boring!

This is Bobbie’s Gourmet Tuna Fish Recipe, but feel free to use chicken, shrimp, crabmeat or salmon instead:

Dice one fresh onion, use spray oil and caramelize the onion over medium heat in a pan.

Pour hot diced onion onto one cube of fat free cream cheese (8 oz.). Let sit for a few minutes so the cheese begins to melt.

Add one cup of fat free Greek Yogurt.

Two tablespoons of chopped garlic.

2 cans of 12 oz. Tuna packed in water.

Mix together and chill for a few hours before serving!

Carbs are minimal: 0 grams.
Fats are about .5 grams per serving depending on the can of tuna or product you buy, so be careful.

Servings: 10!

Great for lunch for the entire family. Stuff a tomato, have lettuce wraps, opened grilled sandwich (only one slice of bread instead of two!) or just pile it high on rye bread with peppers and lettuce.

I hope you enjoy this surprising treat! Great protein and calcium.

Is Your Stomach Bloated?

To help prevent your stomach from bloating, try to avoid the three “C’s”: canned foods (due to sodium), processed carbs, and carbinated beverage (adds air to the stomach).

Try some natural deflators, such as asparagus, hot water with freshly squeezed lemon, or apple cider vinegar!

Get in the Game!

Just like in golf or bowling, your weight is your handicap. If you want to lower your weight, you’ve got to improve your game.

Invest in a good pair of sneakers and walk, ride a bike, or do whatever activities you like. Your food choices are your secret to success.

Invest in yourself by buying the lower carb, lower fat versions of the food you love. Mentally prepare for the game by reading labels, believing in yourself, and enjoying the results.

Remember, the reward is not how much you treat yourself with foods, but by looking in the mirror and admiring the real you!

Can You Fit Into Your Skinny Jeans?

The Fall clothes are out! When we wear stretchy summer clothes, our waistline can expand and we don’t even realize it. So try to do a clothes check every few days by wearing something that “doesn’t give” and you can monitor if you are gaining weight. Should you feel bloated or have gained a few pounds, don’t sweat it! Start lowering your fat and carb intake and read the book, “15-150 Secret To Simple Dieting” to give you inspiration and the power of knowledge to get the look you want.

Be Careful of Restaurant Menus!

This was even sited in USA Today! Restaurants need to list their calorie intake. HOWEVER, they sometimes forget the after seasoning, like BUTTER!

One of my favorite restaurants is Ted Montana’s Grill. I get their Bisen Filet (just like regular Filet but more protein, less fat). It lists on the menu that it has 5 grams of fat. But YOU NEED TO KNOW that you must order it “dry”, otherwise they dab a couple slabs of butter right before they serve it to you. At 15 grams of fat per slab, you were just fooled!

These are the sneaky fats that you don’t even realize you consume! So ask before you order!!

Clean Your Refrigerator!

I don’t mean by just wiping it down!

One of the hardest parts of dieting is to make good choices. So make it easy on yourself by getting rid of the foods that you know will pack on the pounds and replace them with better choices.

When you’re hungry, you want to grab something quick. So make sure you have the right supplies. Pack your refrigerator and cabinets with whole grain pretzels, gourmet mustards, and the foods you like but with lower fat, lower carb versions.

The scale will be more user friendly!

It’s a Shore Thing!

Vacations are tough when you’re trying to lose weight.
Here are some helpful hints:

Be a kid again and order the kiddie size!

Dab excess oil with a paper napkin before you indulge in that slice of pizza.

Share dessert, one taste is all your taste buds need.

Try to avoid adult mixed drinks. Instead go for wine, martini’s and low carb beers.

Enjoy seasonal veggies, fruit and fresh fish.

Summer activities are fun: walk the beach, waddle in the pool, kayak and ride your bike.

And if you should have a bad day….just start fresh tomorrow!

Drinking Lots of Water Can Be Boring!!

We all know we have to drink water. We disguise it with lemons, limes, cucumbers, tea bags and coffee. The more we drink, the better it is.

But remember, it’s summertime. Take advantage of the fruits that have high water content, such as berries and melons. Add them to your diet…just watch the carbs.

A refreshing treat is to put one cup of watermelon in a blender with a cup of ice and blend. You just cut the carbs in half! To make it thicker, add a cup of fat free greek yogurt….9 carbs and n0 fat.

There are so many different variations you can make, let me know what you come up with!

Lemons Aren’t Just for Lemonade!

Lemon’s are great for cooking – they bring out the flavor in chicken, pork, fish and grilled veggies. So feel free to squeeze this delightful fruit onto your meals.

If you would like a tart lemon dessert, try this:

1 Box of Lemon Pie Filling & Pudding
Follow directions on box but substitute stevia for sugar.

When hot, scoop 1/2 container of fat free cool whip – use a whisk and swirl it in.

Pour into individual cups and refrigerate. Serve with a dash of cool whip and garnish with a lemon twist.

Servings: 6 Fat: 0 Carbs: 10

This is a great, cool treat…hope you enjoy!
