Dangerous Lee Interviews Natalie Womack: An Eclectic Orgy of Whitney, Lauryn, Aretha and Pink!

Edited

You were once known as Natalie Nicole, why the name change?

I decided to go back to using my real last name, Womack, after I got a divorce.  Natalie Nicole, Nicole being my middle name, seemed a little cheesy to me as a music artist.  At first I tried not using my last name because I was trying to set myself apart from a well known Womack but then I got over that.  I have a good strong last name that I’m very proud of.  Natalie Womack has more of a presence, a statement.  Natalie Nicole, not so much.

Describe your music style?

My music style is an eclectic orgy of the voices of Whitney, Lauryn, Aretha and Pink.  Soulful with a unique and limitless edge of originality and candid expression.

How much do you love purple and why?

I don’t know if it’s obvious or not but I adore purple!  It rocks my world.  It’s vibrant, powerful, arousing, sensual, beautiful, glamorous and spiritual.  Whenever my eyes see it my whole inner world opens up.  It’s exquisite.  I want to make my room over with purple and black or shades of purple.  I would probably never leave my room if I did that.  Maybe I should throw in some other colors so I can be among the living every once and a while.  I would love to try out purple contact lenses….but I really wouldn’t because the thought of putting something directly onto my eyes is hilarious.  I can’t even keep my eyes still while putting eye drops in.  My eyes have a panic attack and twitch like crazy.  It’s ridiculous.  Purple eyes would be so wicked though!  I need to find some purple mascara.  If I ever get married again, my dress would be purple. Screw tradition.  Can you tell I’m in love with purple?

Who would you love to work with?

I would love to work with Prince.  He’s basically the musician that I respect the most in music.  Not a lot of people move me like he does.  It’s sad to say that I have only been to one Prince concert but he’s truly a blessing in the music world.  And even that’s an understatement.  I would love to duet with him on “Nothing Compares 2 U.”  Love that man.

Who do you wish wasn’t on the radio?

Haha…wow!  I can only listen to the radio for so long and it leaves me aching for something more that mainstream radio can’t give.  There’s so much more music out there and mainstream only wants to play the same songs and voices over and over again.  I’m really trying to answer this without getting in trouble.  I’m going to go for it because, in all fairness, not everyone will be my fan either.  Bruno Mars and Rhianna.  I said it.
