Women’s T-Shirts have been an essential part of our wardrobe for years now and they will continue to be so for many more years to come. They can be worn paired with jeans, smart trousers, skirts or underneath other tops to create a layered look (or just to add warmth). The basic design always includes short sleeves, but the body is sometimes drawn in at the waist rather than straight. The length is nearly always just on or past the hips.
Of all the features of women’s T Shirts, the neckline is perhaps the part that can really change the look created. Most T Shirts have crew necklines just above or on the collarbones. But there are V-necks, polo necks, cowl necks and square necks also available. Which collar will look best on you will largely be determined by your shape: specifically, by the size and shape of your breasts.
Women with large breasts don’t often suit the standard crew-neck T Shirt: that style can draw attention to the chest area and make the breasts seem out of proportion and even frumpy. If you have the figure and the confidence, a low cut V-neck could look very alluring, but if you just want a T Shirt to wear for casual shopping trips or similar, look for V-neck (not too broad), sweetheart or square collars.
If you have large breasts, look for T Shirts that are longer than standard: if you wear one that reaches past your hips it will make your torso seem longer and draw more attention to your waist. Don’t go for baggy: it will make your shape completely disappear and make you seem heavy and dumpy!
If you have small breasts, opt for women’s T Shirts in bold, solid colors or with horizontal stripes. Choose T Shirts that are fitted to enhance the shape of your waist and make the most of the curves you have. Cowl collar T Shirts work well, as do square necks.
Finally, a very important tip is to look at yourself straight-on in a mirror if you’re a little overweight. Some women make the mistake of putting on a T Shirt and then looking down at themselves: this makes the T Shirt drop downwards and gives the wearer the impression that their T Shirt is longer than it is. Then when they stand straight, the T Shirt rides up and doesn’t cover up as much as the wearer thinks it does! Shopping online will give you more range to choose from, plus you can try on your purchases in the comfort of your own home, in your own mirror.
