Now that winter is approaching, it’s time for you to go through your makeup collection and put away your summer staples and replace them with the items you need for your winter look.
While you may have your go-to winter items, you’ll also want to make sure that you are sticking with trending makeup styles that are fashionable for winter 2012. In order to ensure that your makeup case is stocked with the right items, here are the popular makeup looks for 2012’s winter.
Dark Purple Lips
Winter allows you to get away with darker colors that you can’t pull off during other times of the year. This winter, dark purple lip colors are a hot trend. The purple is a nice contrast to the other colors on your face, but it also complements your darker winter wardrobe. Plus, it’s attractive enough to stand out, but subtle enough to not overpower the rest of your look.
Nude Lips
At the other end of the spectrum you’ll find nude lips. If purple lips will not look well with your style, you can opt for a more nude color. This is extremely great if you want to give off a more natural complexion of if you’re not doing anything too fancy. And the best part about nude lips is that they’ll easily complement any color combination or fashion trend you plan on donning.
Bold Eyebrows
This winter it’s all about polished and bold eyebrows. Make sure that your brows are always trimmed and styled to highlight your eyes. Then, use a brow brush to ensure that they’re always straight. You can always use a powder color to add depth to your brows, especially if yours are naturally light.
Grunge Eyeliner
Break out the dark black eyeliner and lay it on thick. Grunge eyeliner is very much in style this winter. Make sure to use your favorite dark liner and travel around the top and bottom of your eye. Then, smudge the liner up a bit to make it look less perfect. You can either opt to wear this look on its own, or feel free to throw some colored eye shadow on for added glitz and glamour.
Pink Cheeks
The cold winter may give you naturally rosy cheeks, and this year, it’s all about getting a nice pink cheek with makeup. Place a light pink blush on your cheeks and rub in a circular motion to allow the blush to blend in naturally with the rest of your makeup and alleviate any noticeable outlines. This will make it look more natural.
Au-Natural
As much as you may not want to hear it, this winter, having a makeup-less look is very much in style. If you have blemishes or uneven skin tone, you may want to invest in a good foundation or concealer that blend in well with your skin. As for the rest of it, leave it in the bag, and natural looking faces are all the rage.
