Thoughts of pocket protectors and taped glasses will no longer be what comes to mind when thinking of nerdy looks thanks to designers featured at this year’s Fashion Week in London. Pairing sequin dresses with messy buns and over-sized sweaters has geek chic a frontrunner in the upcoming seasons. The creation was the brainchild of designer Ashish and he made sure that with each piece of geek-wear there was the appropriate level of sequins. Here are some ways to incorporate this girly yet nerdy look into your everyday attire.

Sequins Accessories

In order to create this girly yet geeky look, Ashish combined a traditional math geek look with the sparkles of sequins. In some outfits the addition of a large sequin scrunchie was just what the outfit needed to make it stand out. If you are not down with the large hair accessories, try something a bit more muted such as glasses with a little sparkle in the frames or sequins socks.

Dresses that Sparkle, Head to Toe

Of course one of the hottest looks in the geek chic runway show were the sequin dresses. Ashish is known to be a big fan of Hollywood fashion and it would seem he incorporated these looks into his fashion showing. His sequins dress is one that can be easily reworked as something you can wear in your everyday life. The key is dressing it down. While you would want to glam up a dress like this for a party or a red carpet appearance, it is not practical for the everyday woman. Pair the dress with unlikely accessories such as sneakers and a casual coat to play down the elegance of the dress. Also, the styling of your hair will play a big role in the overall look of the dress. Pairing what would have been an evening gown with a messy, just woke up hairstyle like a messy bun can help bring that dress down a few levels so you can wear it anywhere.

One of the boldest looks at Ashish’s show was his two-faced style clothing: half denim, half sequins. Perhaps you are not daring enough to rock the two fabrics in one pair of jeans, instead you can mix the two in other ways such as pairing a sequins blouse with jeans or a sequins dress with a denim jacket.
