The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D Movie is said to be a sequel to the original (Toby Hooper‘s) 1974 version. John Luessenhop is said to direct the movie and Lionsgate, Twisted Pictures and Nu Image Films are producing the movie. The movie is said to be released early next year 04 January 2013 to be precise.
Producers of this movie were contemplating to give Leatherface a complete makeover, I seriously hope that does not happen, because it will change the very essence of the movie and Leatherface as we have known him over the decades. This movie as it is a sequel to the original movie the producers have decided to base this movie to set a foundation for further sequels of the Chainsaw Massacre franchise.
The story is said to begin with a young woman by the name of Heather sets on a journey with a group of friends to claim her inheritance. When she reaches her home town in Texas, she gets to know that Leatherface is her relative. The story then revolves around the both of them with Leatherface picking out all her friends one by one and hacking them to death with a chainsaw in the most bloody, gruesome and gory way. I guess watching it in 3D is going to make it more exiting with blood and body parts flying by. The latest post production works claim that the plot has under gone some minor changes, but the story line sticks to the original subject matter for the most part.
As anticipated there is going to be more blood and bodies hacked to give the full effect on 3D, the special effects personal has quoted that it is for the audience to have a front row view of a slaughter house and to imagine that they are covered and drenched in blood, honestly it already gives me the creeps imagining such things.
The slight alteration in the plot is said to add to the mystery and not make it look like any other psychotic grab and slash movies from recent times. To write this preview I intend to write in depth about the plot, this could be a spoiler of sorts for those hardcore Chainsaw Massacre fans who can’t wait for the movie to hit theaters early next year.
The movie is said to start with a prologue from the 1974 version and then continue from the present day. John Luessenhop thought otherwise and decided against it, the very first scene before the introductory titles shows all the towns’ people including cops carrying weapons and torches to attack and burn down Leatherface’s home.
Jeb Stuart is said to be Leatherface’s name in this movie, and he is accused by the town’s people for various crimes. The sheriff of the town tries to stop the mob from destroying Jeb Stuart’s home, however the towns’ mayor has other ideas and motivates the towns’ people to kill and destroy Jeb Stuart his family and his belongings.
The scene after the introduction titles shows heather and her friends visiting town,” Heather is a bit of a loose cannon herself” and is portrayed as having a liking for the dark nature herself. The mystery of the film is to find out if Leatherface actually died in the fire along with his family or he somehow escaped the fire and is murdering people to take revenge, or if someone is impersonating as Leatherface. Leatherface is played by Dan Yeager.
