The 5 Best Things About Living in the White House

Personal Pastry Chef

While having a personal chef on call twenty-four hours a day is great, having a personal PASTRY chef on call twenty-four hours a day is just that much sweeter. Think about all those nights that you’ve lied awake in bed craving a cannoli or half-moon, but all of the bakeries in your area are closed. If you’re the president you don’t have to give that craving a second thought. One quick phone call and your sweet tooth will be satisfied. Just don’t forget the milk

Flowers

Flowers can brighten up any room. In the White House they put flowers in EVERY room. It is estimated that The White House spends more than $250,000 per year on flowers (Source: Kessler).  You may be saying to yourself, “Wow! That sounds like a tremendous waste of taxpayer money! That amount of money could pay for a bunch of policemen, half a dozen teachers or a bazillion new public school computers!” and you would be right.

Movie Theater

Who has time to go to a movie these days? Not the president. Luckily the White House is equipped with its very own movie theater showing first-run movies twenty-four hours a day for the president and his family. The best part? Never having to worry that you’re going to miss the previews.

Bowling Alley

You probably know a few people that own their own bowling ball. You may even know a few people that own their own (read: stole from the local bowling alley) bowling shoes. You don’t know anyone that owns their own personal bowling alley. Think about what a difference having home lane advantage will make next time your friends are in the mood for a little glow bowling. You may want to have your own bowling shirts made up (another perk of being president) or you could always just go shirtless. It’s your alley, after all.

Onsite Calligrapher

Too busy to write all those thank-you notes or send Grandma a birthday card? No problem. Just send the job over to your personal calligrapher and he’ll take care of it for you. It may not be as exciting as one of those cards that play music, but it’s the thought that counts.
