Electronic Music
Electronic music is slowly taking over and making a name for itself in the music industry. The recent take off of Dubstep is boosting the popularity of electronic music. Many dubstep songs are just remixes of regular popular songs to include very rapid drum patterns and bass lines with occasional vocals. One of the most popular Dubstep artists is Skrillex who often performs at raves and other electronic musical festivals. Electronic music isn’t only Dubstep though. The genre also includes House music, Techno, and Electronic music. House music is very popular at house parties and is characterized by repeated beats and rhymes. Deadmau5 is one of the best House music artists out there. And of course everyone has heard of Techno music before. Techno is oftentimes a repetitive instrumental for DJ use. Electronic music is certainly getting grasps on society and the mainstream.
History of Electronic Music
Electronic music got its start in the late 90′s with synthesizers. It has since moved forward and is now mostly computer generated musics. It started with the basis of being mainly dance music used at nightclubs and parties and has gained in popularity enough to also have dedicated events such as Music Festivals and Raves.
Music Festivals
There are dozens and dozens of popular music festivals out there. These festivals are just huge events oriented around music often emphasizing a certain genre and aimed at that audience. Coachella is a music festival that many people will recognize because of their recent Tupac hologram stunt that they pulled off a few months ago. Events just like that are held all around the country. Ultra Music Festival is also another big name festival that is held in Miami, Florida in March of every year. They often feature a heavy lineup of electronic music. It is second in terms of size only to the Electric Daisy Carnival which is held in various locations throughout the states. The Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas 2012 drew in over 300,000 people over the 3 day event. These festivals are massive which just goes to show how popular these events are becoming. The festivals often feature popular electronic artists and can turn in to raves.
Raves
The Rave scene is also up and coming and gaining in popularity, especially in recent years. Raves are basically huge dance parties. Music is almost always electronic music played by DJ’s or live artists. There is often crazy light shows going on, loud bass, and crazy neon and glow in then dark gear. People do anything to stand out at these events and people have been known to take ecstasy. People love Neon hats and shirts and such at these events as it makes them a walking light basically. It garners people tons of attention and people love to get it at these wild dance events.
The Future of Dubstep
Dubstep is certainly entering the mainstream music category. It has garnered a lot of attention in the past few months with the rising popularity of Skrilliex and other electronic artists such as David Guetta. These popular electronic artists are even producing music for other mainstream artists. There is no doubt that Dubstep is gaining ground in the popular culture and will most certainly leave a mark in the 2010′s
The future of Electronic music is very bright indeed. Ultra Music Festival sold out in less than a week and I Heart Radio music festival is dedicating an entire stage to house music. You cannot argue that electronic music is gaining some sort of recognition however, only time will tell what happens to the Electronic music genre.
