When watching television, we want to be entertained. The best shows keep us on the edge of our seats with exciting plotlines or laughing in enjoyment at the hilarious dialogue between characters. We want to be transcended and moved, with tears of joy or sadness streaming down our faces. The last thing we want is for a television show that puts us to sleep. Yet, there are several shows out there that are yawn inducing and should be avoided. The following information lets you know the shows you should try and avoid, unless you need help falling asleep.
Reality Competition Television
Okay, it is clear that reality television is not a particular TV show but more of a category for viewing. The problem is that they have all become so predictable and without drama that these competition shows are becoming increasingly similar, and oh so boring. Whether it is American Idol, The Voice, or Next Top Model, these shows have a particular plotline that seems to be followed that it is almost impossible to separate one from the other. Though the fad was originally enjoyable, now it is becoming so predictable that delineation is nearly impossible to complete.
An annual show, the Oscars draws a huge television audience from around the world. You would think with this number of individuals watching that this TV show would be extremely entertaining. The problem is, that this is far from the truth. The Oscars is a show that is rooted in predictability. Maybe the awards are unknown, if popular sentiment and analysis has not defined it for us, but the witty banter and entertainment is quite predictable. There is a sense of blandness that comes from the background and the overall presentation making it one of the most boring TV shows to watch.
The most excitement comes from the one item that cannot be guided and steered by directors and producers: the speeches. Other than the human interjection that takes place, the show is pretty routine and could use some spice. Until then, we should just be thankful that it only occurs once a year.
Many individuals in both the UK and the US will be frustrated with this selection, but the once popular drama-comedy is waning in popularity quickly. The storylines are becoming outrageously predictable. What is meant by this seemingly oxymoronic idea is that the show is taking modern day issues and taking them to extremes, thus leaving them almost unrealistic. Guest stars keep popping up as if the show cannot rely on its own TV prowess but must use hype and gimmicks to draw a crowd. It is becoming increasingly hard to relate to which breeds boredom.
Storage Wars is a popular show, with millions of individuals turning in every week to watch, but it is also extremely boring. Remember, viewership does not alleviate this difficulty it can take and inflict while watching. In Storage Wars, there is a process in which items are sold at auction. It is interesting, arguably, but only the first time you view it. After that, it is predictable and rather boring.
Another reality show that is as boring as many of the others is Extreme Couponing. This show literally shows people buying products at ridiculously low prices through the use of coupons. It would seem like one discussion or informational programme on this topic would have sufficed, but that is not the case. Instead, the world is now inflicted with the mind-numbing show that demonstrates just how these coupons are utilised, every week. Informational maybe, but watching people purchase items can be extremely boring. This is another show that after the first viewing can send you to sleep.
Like I said at the beginning, if you are trying to fall asleep then by all means turn one of these TV shows on, get on your sofabed and fall asleep. Have fun…
