Earrings can completely transform an outfit, with minimum effort and cost, so learning the basics of matching your earrings to your outfit can be very useful! Avoid a confidence crisis and pair those earrings with the right outfit and exude confidence – and you’ll look as good as you feel. Stud earrings, chandelier earrings, rhinestone earrings, pearl earrings, stud earrings- the list is endless; so below I’ve listed a few handy tips that I’ve learnt from personal experience.
Pearl Earrings
Both classic and elegant, pearl earrings are always a winner when you are trying to impress. You can go retro and pair with a LBD and heels to complete that classic 50′s look. Not a fan of vintage? Then try wearing pearls with a casual outfit to dress it up slightly transforming it from casual to understated class. Brilliantly versatile, pearls can be dressed up or down to achieve the desired effect.
Chandelier Earrings
Chandelier earrings are the elegant piece de résistance to any Saturday night outfit. Available at most retailers, chandelier earrings are designed to look expensive without the price tag – ideal for a cheap quick fix to an outfit. Accentuate those cheekbones and wear your hair up, creating a classy look with minimum effort. If you are reserving your chandelier earrings for events and parties, they look best when paired with a nice dress or playsuit. You can get away with a simple, plain dress when it comes to chandelier earrings, as they tend to draw the attention away from your clothes. However, be beware of an outfit boasting too many colours or patterns; you don’t want to risk an outfit that looks too busy, instead be creative and match them with colours that compliment.
Hoop Earrings
Large hoop earrings can be quite a statement so make sure your outfit isn’t too over the top or you’ll find yourself attracting the wrong kind of attention. When worn with the right outfit, hoop earrings work with your style to pinpoint attention on your best features such as your eyes or shoulders. Though, it’s important to note the proportion of the size of the earrings to the size of your face; if you’ve got a small face beware of large earrings such as hoops as they will crowd your face.
Feather Earrings
This season stylists have fallen in love with feather earrings; it is a style that combines animal prints with bright colour tones- a style that is guaranteed to spice up even the plainest of outfits. From gorgeous turquoise to fiery reds, feather earrings bring a slice of the wild side to any outfit. Word of warning though, avoid clashing colours; you really don’t want to induce headaches in anyone who looks your way. By choosing colourful and loud earrings, you are free to make less of an effort with your outfit, so stick to plain or subdued styles. Try a simple black top paired with denim shorts for a casual look. Or if you fancy channelling a more boho look, try a maxi dress armed with a denim jacket – minimal colour whilst avoiding looking too plain.
