The first thing you need for this project is this organic aloe-castile liquid soap base, it’s important to use this particular soap base because it’s really liquidy and sloshy and I’ll explain why that’s important in a few moments.
So the container I’m going to use today holds 8 ounces, so I will measure 8 ounces of the soap. Now the aromatherapy blend I’m making today contains base, middle, and top notes, that helps just kind of round out the fragrance so it lasts longer and makes it a little more complex.
Essential Oils:
The first essential oil I’m going to use is patchouli, now a lot of people associate patchouli with hippies, and you know, it stinks, however if you use just a couple drops of patchouli it’ll blend really nicely into the rest of your essential oils and you won’t even notice it except that it just kind of grounds your fragrance. So I’m just going to add let’s say 4 drops of patchouli. The middle note to this blend is going to be ylang-ylang, it’s a really exotic, sweet essential oil, this is also a really potent one so just a few drops.
The top notes of this blend are going to be lavender for one, lavender just kind of rounds out the deepness of patchouli and the sweetness of the ylang-ylang so I’ll be a little more liberal with the lavender. The final essential oil I’m going to use is lemon, which is a really high, light note… there’s the lemon… so I’ll be a little more liberal with the lemon as well. So I’m just going to mix those together, make sure all the essential oils are blended evenly with the soap.
Now here’s the point where you’ll just smell your blend, see how it smells to you and if you don’t like it add some more, or if it’s a little too strong for you just add some more soap base and that will thin it out. So that is all there is to the blending, now the important reason why you want to use this liquidy sloshy soap base is because it’s the only I’ve found that works really well with these foaming bottles, I’ve used a thicker soap base with these bottles and it just kind of clogs up the foamer and nothing comes out, so we’ll just fill this container… just screw the lid on nice and tight there, and you’re done.
The Finished Product:
It’s all ready for you to put a label on, tie a ribbon or whatever you like. So as you can see once you get the pump primed it comes out in this nice foam. That’s really helpful too because it makes the soap last a lot longer.
So there you go, there’s your aromatherapy foaming body wash.
